The Sutton Collection

We were very excited to be hanging and hosting an exhibition organised by Tora and Richard Edmonds of Chippenham Auction Rooms followed by a sale of these works. The 97 piece, private collection of leading British contemporary artist Jacob Sutton included examples of his own work as well as those of his famous father, Royal Academy member Philip Sutton. Unusually, many of the works by Philip Sutton are portraits of Jacob as a child.

“The Jacob Sutton Collection is arguably one of the most important bodies of work to be offered to the art market in years. It comprises a significant number of never-before-seen works by Philip Sutton, many of which are portraits of Jacob. These touching insights into Jacob’s early life present a unique opportunity to collectors and certainly support the viewpoint that Philip Sutton is one of the best British colourists of the 20th Century.” Richard Edmonds of Chippenham Auction Rooms
